Energy Drink & Pop Replacement

Try Carbonated Water

Try Carbonated Water

I must confess, my energy drink and caffeine consumption went up every time I tried to quit alcohol.  When I finally did quit alcohol, my consumption of pop and energy drinks, rose dramatically.  Caffeine is a stimulant, it can be very addicting, that stimulant.  The habit was there, to have a drink in my hand.  I knew drinking pop, such as cola was not going to be good for my health.  I knew that energy drinks were the same, if not worse.  I mean, really, have you ever read the ingredients on the back of your favorite can of energy?

It reads like a laundry list of words that can not be pronounced.  I am not sure how much of the population can identify more than a few of those ingredients and even fewer might be able to tell me what those ingredients actually are?

The fact is, I knew all along that energy drinks and “pop” (“soda” for my Southern fam) were horrible for my health.  I also knew that I had given up pills and alcohol, which meant, I needed something!  I needed some kind of stimulant, my addiction was still active.  I was not ready to give it up. Until I was.

What could I replace energy drinks and pop with?  Besides the mild stimulant that the caffeine provided, what was it that I liked about those beverages?

I enjoyed the carbonation.  I enjoyed the crisp, refreshing flavor.  How could I duplicate that, with something more natural.  It came to me, the thought entered my mind, carbonated water!

Call it carbonated water, call it soda water, call it club soda, or sparkling water, call it whatever you want.  I call it soda water because that’s what I have known it to be called since I was a young boy.  The fact is, it’s carbonated water and it’s fizzy.  It’s very crisp and it reminds me of what I liked about pop and energy drinks (which also are carbonated).

Drinking soda water has helped me stop drinking pop and energy drinks.  I know some people are not too keen on soda water and have trouble drinking it.  Some people don’t think it has any flavor.  I know these days, many carbonated water products offer flavored varieties.  However, the more natural way to flavor it is by doing it yourself.

Perhaps squeeze an orange or two and pour that into a glass with the carbonated water.  No need to mix it because the carbonated water will blend it perfectly.  I would encourage anyone trying to quit pop and energy drinks, to try going the carbonated water route.

I hope it can work for you like it has for me.
